三月十四, 白色情人節

Today, while driving to work, listening to Yes 933FM's morning show, got to know that today is actually White Valentine's Day (白色情人節). So, out of curosity, I searched the web for a definition for this occassion and what it symbolises. Below is one that I feel that is worth sharing with all my readers.

Ok...attempting to translate the above...

Actually, in ancient Japan, 14th Feb (Valentine's Day) is an occassion for girls to show their affection to guys whom they are interested. Girl will normally buy gifts for the guy on 14th Feb but as society advances, whether girl buy gift for guy or vice versa is not that important anymore. In Japan, if either party receive present from another party on 14th Feb and has liking for the other party, he/she will return a gift back on 14th Mar. This symbolises that both of them are together. That is why 14th Mar is called White Valentine's Day. So if you receive a present on Valentine's Day, why not return a gift back to that special someone to express your love to them?

End of translation...

地震二部曲

Today at around 11.50am at client's place, while thinking about a production issue and also what to have for lunchie...looking up to the ceiling and felt that the building is shaking... Thought it is due to construction work near the building but in the end, got to know from my colleague from Robinson Road that actually it is the tremors from an earthquake. With that in mind, we all went for lunch thinking that it is a one-off thing. After lunch, I read from ChannelnewsAsia website that an earthquake happened at Sumatra and the tremors "flow" to Singapore. No wonder the feeling so familiar....if u guys remember, mi experienced earthquake tremors abt 5 on the Richter Scale while i am in Taiwan...Then near 2pm, another set of tremors hit SG again...I did not think of evacuating becoz the earthquake is SO MINOR! Yet a lot of reports are saying ppl evacuating from lvl 40....duh....C'mon lor, feel the Richter 5 one then tell me lar...Anyway, SG's buildings should not be so unreliable also. I guess if i did not encounter the 1st earthquake, I will be as panicky as others bah...

正月初士五

Today is 15th of the Chinese New Year. A lot of ppl regards today as the end of the Chinese New Year. Officially, after today, no need to give ang paos liao, a relief to those who are "promoted" to giving ang paos this year. Have not been blogging since the start of Chinese New Year coz have been busy receiving ang paos, "dry-swimming", visiting relatives and of course...work lor...

初夕, all the uncles from my father's side came to my house for reunion dinner, followed by "dry-swimming" session. Session lasted till over 12am...Then followed by receiving the Gods. This year I stayed up till 4.30am to wish for good health and prosperity for my parents.

Before I can catch a wink of sleep, it is time to set off for Malaysia liaoz...visiting my mother's side relatives. The whole family went in and can see my bro's wife really lost at giving ang paos since it is her first time doing it with such a big family. Anyways, my mum's side got ard 60 people bah...Quite hard to rem each one's name at once. I can rem coz got train before one...hahaha...

The next day afternoon, one of the relatives wan to send his wife back to her 娘家 for Chinese New Year. So mum tot that is a gd chance to bring my bro's wife to go around and have a look. So we borrowed a Honda Stream, one of the many SUVs owned by my mum's relatives and we embarked on a journey to Melaka and stopping at Muar for a sumptous Thai dinner before returning to Batu Pahat to rest for the night. When we reach Batu Pahat, it was already 12+ am liao...everyone is so tired...

Next day, we had yu sheng wif my Third uncle's family before returning to Singapore....

Last weekend, my mum's tuition pupils came and we played until 4am and juz yesterday, my sec sch frens came...With that, it spells all my activities for my CNY.
